At the northwest tip of the country the mighty Victoria Falls form the natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The Smoke That Thunders is one of the Seven Natural Wonders. This breathtaking waterfall is a World Heritage Site and a must-see for any visitor. No visit to Zimbabwe would be complete without a Victoria Falls visite. Our guide Fungie knows the falls like no other and has the experience of more than 15 years of guiding in the falls and her rainforest park.
Over a length of almost 2 km, the water plunges with a thundering sound into a 100-meter deep gorge. The mist clouds can be seen for miles, giving them the apt name of Mosi-oa-Tunya, or The smoke that thunders. As well as the natural wonder of the falls itself, the town of Victoria Falls is renowned as a centre for adrenaline activities and excursions like white water rafting, gentle river sunset cruises, helicopter flights, gorge-swinging and bungee jumping. The area around Victoria Falls, in particular the Batoka Gorge, is very good for bird life.
Victoria Falls has an International Airport and is one of the main entry points into Zimbabwe, giving easy access to Hwange NP. It is also a good access point for Chobe NP which is only a short distance away, across the border in Botswana.
