Eastern Higlands

This scenic mountains is the highest ridge of mountains stretching from the north on the Zambezi escarpments running down south to the save valley towards South Africa creating a natural barrier between Zimbabwe and its eastern neighbor Mozambique. Hiking activities range from day hikes to 7 days trails that can be done depending on your physical fitness.

The weather in the eastern highlands is very different to other parts of the country as much of the country lies in the low veld, the eastern highlands receive more rainfall and the low temperatures are ideal for fruits cultivation and forestry propagation. Coffee and tea produced here , some trials of winery have been tried but not the best compared to the south African wines.

Nyanga NP

The beautiful Nyanga mountains or Inyangani are the central mountains of the Eastern Highlands. Some parts may remind you of Scotland. The views are breathtaking over the lush Honde valley into Mozambique.  Nyanga has the most spectacular and the highest mountai in Zimbabwe at 2,592m . At the southern end of the park the spectacular Mutarazi Falls plummet down a sheer cliff face into the Honde Valley. The Honde valley is spectacularly viewed from the Mutarazi Falls, which is 772 metres high, the highest falls in Zimbabwe and the second in Africa.

Most people come here to hike on Mount Nyangani, Zimbabwe’s highest peak. It takes 1½ to three hours to reach the summit from the car park east of Nyanga Dam. Check the weather conditions before you leave and book a guide.

Bvumba mountains

The Bvumba mountains on the south east of Mutare are scenic and have dense forests and birds life is amazing.
